Bhadra’s Divine Chariot-Ascent and the Conch-Blast
Suta Goswami
Tattva Level: pashu
Shiva Form: Dakṣiṇāmūrti
Sthala Purana: Not a sthala-purāṇa passage; it lays down a general Siddhāntic norm: karma/ācāra must be āgama/śāstra-pramāṇa and īśvara-anugṛhīta, not laukika/asat-pravṛtti.
Significance: Frames pilgrimage/vrata/pujā as valid only when aligned with śāstra and īśvara-ājñā; discourages heterodox or adhārmic ritualism.
Role: teaching
It teaches that spiritual progress in Shaiva Dharma depends on actions aligned with śāstra and the will of Pati (Lord Shiva), avoiding practices rooted in falsehood or adharmic motives that strengthen pāśa (bondage) rather than lead toward liberation.
Linga-worship is to be performed as Shiva-ājñā (the Lord’s ordinance) through authorized methods—mantra, offering, and discipline—rather than improvised or prohibited rites; this preserves the purity of bhakti and the sanctity of Saguna Shiva-upāsanā.
Follow prescribed Shaiva practice—such as Panchakshara japa (Om Namaḥ Śivāya) and disciplined, scripture-aligned worship—while avoiding unapproved rituals; keep conduct and offerings sattvic and in accordance with Shiva’s injunctions.
