FAQs

It portrays the awe-inspiring, world-transcending energy of Shiva’s retinue: when Pati (Shiva) is present, even his attendants embody a power that exceeds ordinary natural limits, reminding the devotee that the Lord’s śakti governs all cosmic functions.

The Pramathas are attendants of Saguna Shiva—Shiva with attributes—active in his līlā. Their exuberant power supports the Purāṇic vision that Linga-worship is not merely symbolic but communion with the living presence of Shiva and his divine sphere.

A practical takeaway is to steady the mind amid overwhelming energies by japa of the Pañcākṣarī mantra (Om Namaḥ Śivāya) and contemplation of Shiva as Pati, the master of all forces, rather than being distracted by fear or spectacle.
