The Vision of Dakṣa’s Great Sacrifice
and the Onset of Vīrabhadra’s Terror

Tattva Level: pasha
Shiva Form: Kālāntaka
Cosmic Event: Quasi-pralaya imagery: mountains crumble, earth quakes, winds whirl, ocean churns.
It portrays nature’s upheaval as an outer mirror of a great metaphysical event: when Pati (Shiva) manifests His power, the conditioned order of pasha-bound existence is shaken, reminding the seeker that worldly stability is not ultimate and that refuge lies in Shiva.
Such omens underscore Shiva’s Saguna lordship over the elements—earth, wind, and ocean—strengthening the devotee’s resolve to worship the Linga as the accessible, stabilizing focus through which the transcendent Lord grants protection and liberation.
In times of inner or outer turbulence, the practical takeaway is steady japa of the Panchakshara “Om Namaḥ Śivāya,” ideally with rudrāksha, and calm centering on Shiva as Pati beyond the shaking of the elements.
