Tattva Level: pashu
Shiva Form: Dakṣiṇāmūrti
Significance: Śravaṇa (devout listening) to purāṇic kathā is framed as puṇya-producing and pāpa-removing, preparing the bound soul for Śiva’s grace (anugraha).
Type: stotra
Role: teaching
It teaches that sacred means (teachings, practices, and their results) gain potency through mutual dependence, and that attentive śravaṇa (hearing) of Shaiva kathā is itself purifying and sin-destroying on the path to liberation under Pati (Shiva).
It frames devotion as a connected system: hearing Shiva’s wondrous accounts nurtures faith and right understanding, which in turn supports Saguna worship such as Linga-pūjā—making the practice effective and spiritually transformative.
Regular śravaṇa and manana—hearing and reflecting on Shiva Purana kathā—especially alongside daily Panchakshara japa (Om Namaḥ Śivāya) and simple Linga worship, is implied as a practical sin-removing discipline.
