Hiraṇyakaśipu’s Wrath and the Affliction of Devas and Beings

It highlights bhakti as a practical refuge: sincere praise and transparent surrender of one’s suffering to the Divine invites grace and guidance, aligning the seeker toward dharma and eventual liberation.
Even within a Shaiva text, the episode shows Saguna worship as accessible support—devotees approach a personal form of the Divine with stuti and surrender. In Shaiva Siddhānta, such devotion ultimately matures into reliance on Pati (Śiva) as the supreme bestower of anugraha (grace).
The verse implies stuti (hymnic praise) and śaraṇāgati (surrender): recite a chosen stotra/mantra with humility, then mentally offer one’s full distress to the Lord; this pairs well with japa of “Om Namaḥ Śivāya” as a Shaiva daily practice.
