शङ्खचूडस्य मायायुद्धं तथा माहेश्वरास्त्रप्रभावः | Śaṅkhacūḍa’s Māyā-Warfare and the Power of the Māheśvara Astra
Suta Goswami
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Vīrabhadra
Role: destructive
It shows the supremacy of Pati (Śiva) whose mere ordinance (śāsana) makes the weapon infallible; the enemy’s reduction to bhasma symbolizes the burning of pride, bondage (pāśa), and adharma before divine will.
The verse emphasizes Saguna Śiva’s active grace and governance—Śiva is not only the transcendent Lord but also the personal protector whose śakti operates in the world; Linga-worship trains the devotee to surrender to that governing presence.
Contemplate bhasma as the sign of impermanence and inner purification; apply Tripuṇḍra with remembrance of Śiva, and repeat the Pañcākṣarī (Om Namaḥ Śivāya) with the attitude of yielding to Śiva’s śāsana.
