(Devastuti) — Hymn/Praise of the Devas
Sūta Gosvāmin (narrating the hymn as part of the Yuddhakhaṇḍa account)
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Mahādeva
Type: stotra
Role: liberating
The verse identifies Shiva as both the goal and the means: He is worthy of praise and also the power within praise, while tapas becomes fruitful only by His grace—aligning bhakti and disciplined sādhanā toward liberation.
It supports Saguna worship through stuti (hymns) offered to Īśa, while also implying a deeper Shaiva view that Shiva pervades the worship itself—mirrored in Linga-pūjā where the devotee offers praise, water, and mantras as acts sanctified by Shiva’s presence.
Daily stuti with disciplined tapas: recite Shiva-stotras or the Pañcākṣarī (Om Namaḥ Śivāya) with steadiness, offering worship with a focused heart; keep austerity aligned to devotion rather than mere self-effort.
