(Tripura-varṇanam) — “Description of Tripura”

The verse highlights disciplined tapas expressed through sacred fire (homa): by enduring heat and establishing a consecrated space, the practitioners seek siddhi—refined spiritual capability—ultimately meant to support devotion and approach to Shiva (Pati) rather than mere worldly power.
Homa is an outer form of worship that mirrors inner offering; in Shaiva practice it complements Saguna Shiva worship (including Linga-puja) by training reverence, purity, and self-offering—preparing the devotee to recognize Shiva’s presence as both the worshipped form and the indwelling Lord.
It suggests homa performed with steadiness and reverence; as a meditative takeaway, one may pair fire-offering with mantra-japa (especially Panchakshara, “Om Namaḥ Śivāya”) and cultivate inner heat (tapas) as focused awareness rather than mere physical austerity.
