Nārada’s Austerities Described
Lord Vishnu
Tattva Level: pashu
Type: stotra
Role: teaching
The verse teaches that genuine devotion is a protective spiritual force: when devotion is missing, the mind becomes vulnerable to pasha-like bonds such as desire and delusion, which obstruct clear discernment and liberation.
In Shaiva practice, devotion is stabilized through Saguna Shiva worship—especially Linga-upasana—because consistent reverence, offering, and remembrance purify the inner faculties and reduce the rise of kama and moha.
Cultivate steady bhakti through daily Shiva-puja or Linga-abhisheka with mantra-japa (especially the Panchakshara, “Om Namaḥ Śivāya”), as a practical antidote to desire and delusion.
