Bien que sa mère l’y poussât, il n’alla pas auprès de son père. Absorbé par d’autres tâches domestiques, l’initié se mit au service de la femme qui accomplissait le rite d’initiation (dīkṣā).

The verse highlights disciplined adherence to one’s immediate dharma: even personal ties are set aside when one is bound by a sacred rite and rightful duties, reflecting the Shaiva emphasis on order (niyama) as a support for inner purification.
In Shaiva practice, dīkṣā and proper observance of duties prepare the devotee for Saguna Shiva worship—such as Linga-pūjā—by cultivating steadiness, purity, and fidelity to vows that make worship efficacious.
The implied takeaway is to honor dīkṣā and one’s vows: maintain ritual discipline (ācāra), and support worship with steady daily practice—such as japa of the Panchākṣarī “Om Namaḥ Śivāya” alongside clean conduct and duty.
