Determination of Flower-Offerings to Śiva

« Vyāsa — qui révèle même les normes subtiles de la mesure — a déclaré qu’un “lakṣa” consiste en une seule unité issue de la mesure appelée “prastha”, selon le décompte fondé sur la fleur śaṅkha. »
Suta Goswami (narrating the Purana’s account, citing Vyasa’s standard of measures)
Tattva Level: pashu
Offering: pushpa
It emphasizes that the Purana transmits not only devotion but also precise, subtle standards—showing that Shiva’s creation is ordered and intelligible, and that scriptural knowledge is meant to be exact as well as sacred.
By grounding narration in exact measures and recognized standards, it supports disciplined worship (vidhi) of Saguna Shiva—where offerings, counts, and ritual proportions are traditionally regulated by authoritative scriptural reckoning.
The takeaway is disciplined japa and observance: keep accurate counts (saṅkhyā) in mantra repetition and maintain measured, consistent ritual practice—an attitude aligned with Shaiva vidhi even when specific items like rudrākṣa or bhasma are not named in this verse.
