Concise Teaching on Liṅga Worship / Śiva-arcana-vidhi

Sthala Purana: Not a specific sthala; it foregrounds the multi-tiered śruti-smṛti style lineage: Upamanyu → Kṛṣṇa → (tradition) → Brahmā’s ancient account, legitimizing liṅga-pūjā as primordial.
Significance: Establishes śāstra-prāmāṇya and paramparā; pilgrimage here is ‘to the source’—hearing the ancient account itself is treated as purifying and merit-giving.
It establishes the sanctity of the teaching lineage (paramparā): the Shaiva teaching is preserved through reliable seers and divine narrators, indicating that true knowledge of Śiva is received through authentic transmission and reverent listening (śravaṇa).
Though not describing a rite directly, it frames the coming narrative as an authoritative Shaiva instruction—typically culminating in devotion to Saguna Śiva (often through Liṅga worship) as taught by exalted sources like Brahmā and realized devotees such as Upamanyu.
The implied practice is śravaṇa (devout listening) and smaraṇa (remembrance) of Śiva-kathā from trustworthy sources—preparatory disciplines that support mantra-japa (e.g., Pañcākṣarī) and steady bhakti.
