It teaches that beginning with namaskāra (humble surrender) aligns the mind with Shiva, producing inner praharṣa (uplifted joy) and making one’s actions dharmic and unburdened—an attitude central to Shaiva devotion.
In Linga/Saguna Shiva worship, pranāma and respectful salutation are the gateway acts (upacāras) that place the devotee in right relationship with Pati (Shiva); from that devotion arises calm joy, after which worldly duties are performed as offerings rather than ego-driven acts.
Offer a simple namaskāra to Shiva before work—mentally or before the Linga—optionally with japa of “Om Namaḥ Śivāya,” then proceed with duties in a steady, content mind.
