It teaches that Shiva-pūjā is not merely external ritual: the devotee must first align with dharma (proper observance) and then stabilize the mind, so worship becomes inwardly pure and capable of granting Shiva’s grace.
The verse frames Saguna worship (such as Liṅga-pūjā) as a disciplined approach: correct preparatory rites followed by entering the sanctified space with mental steadiness, making the offering meaningful and devotion-focused rather than mechanical.
It explicitly recommends mental steadiness before beginning pūjā—practically done through brief dhyāna, breath-settling, and remembrance of Shiva (often via the Pañcākṣarī, ‘Om Namaḥ Śivāya’) prior to entering the pūjāgāra.
