Nous buvons le nectar de la connaissance qui s’écoule du lotus de ta bouche; et pourtant nous ne sommes pas rassasiés. Ô toi sans faute, nous désirons encore te questionner un peu davantage.
The sages at Naimiṣāraṇya (Ṛṣis) addressing Sūta Gosvāmin
Tattva Level: pashu
Shiva Form: Dakṣiṇāmūrti
Role: teaching
It portrays the ideal disciple-attitude: even after receiving profound instruction, the seeker remains humbly “unsatiated,” yearning for deeper knowledge that leads to Shiva-realization and release from bondage.
In Shaiva tradition, Saguna worship (such as Linga-pūjā) is nourished by right understanding (jñāna). The verse highlights that true devotion seeks not only ritual but also the living teaching that reveals Shiva as Pati, the liberator.
It suggests śravaṇa (listening to sacred discourse) and repeated inquiry with humility—supported by daily Shiva-upāsanā such as japa of “Om Namaḥ Śivāya,” and meditative contemplation on the meaning of the teaching received.
