Consolation of the Devas and the Ordinance of Consequences in the Dakṣa-Yajña Episode
Suta Goswami
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Mahādeva
The verse highlights Śiva’s nature as karuṇānidhi (an ocean of compassion) and shows that true darśana arises when the mind becomes prīta (devotionally softened) and the intellect becomes suprasanna (clear and tranquil), aligning the seeker toward Śiva’s grace.
By portraying Śambhu directly before Dakṣa, the text emphasizes Saguna Śiva—approachable through reverent presence and devotion. In Linga-worship, this same principle is enacted: the devotee stands before Śiva’s sacred form with a settled mind, seeking compassionate grace.
A practical takeaway is darśana-bhāva: rise, stand attentively before Śiva (Linga or image), steady the mind into prīti (loving devotion), and repeat the Panchākṣarī—“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”—until the dhī (inner understanding) becomes calm and clear.
