The Great Assembly at Prayāga: Śiva’s Appearance and Dakṣa’s Arrival

Role: teaching
It teaches that treating Śiva—Pati and Parameśvara—as merely one god among many is a spiritual error that produces hostility, wrong understanding, and a turning away from tattva (true reality), obstructing liberation.
Linga and saguna-upāsanā are meant to be performed with the conviction that Śiva is the Supreme Lord; if one worships while mentally reducing Him to an ordinary deva, the inner attitude becomes contrary to Śiva-tattva and devotion loses its purifying power.
The implied practice is to avoid Śiva-aparādha and cultivate right bhāva: daily japa of the Pañcākṣarī (Om Namaḥ Śivāya) with reverence for Śiva as Parameśvara, and worship (pūjā/abhiṣeka) done without contempt or rivalry toward Śiva.
