Satī at her father’s house: blessings and the onset of youth
Suta Goswami
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Mahādeva
Type: stotra
Offering: dhupa
The verse highlights the Shaiva path of bhakti: on receiving Shiva’s darśana, the devotee responds with humility (vinaya), reverent awe, and heartfelt praise—attitudes that purify the pashu (bound soul) and turn it toward Pati (the Lord).
It describes a classic mode of Saguna worship—approaching the Lord, offering pranāma with folded hands, and singing stotras. The same devotional protocol is applied before the Shiva Liṅga as Shiva’s accessible, grace-giving form for devotees.
Practice namaskāra with añjali (folded hands) and recite Shiva-stotras with a humble mind; this pairs naturally with japa of the Pañcākṣarī mantra (Om Namaḥ Śivāya) and simple Liṅga-upacāra during daily worship or Mahāśivarātri.
