कामभस्म-प्रार्थना: रत्याः शङ्करं प्रति विनयः / Rati’s Supplication to Śaṅkara regarding Kāma’s Ashes
शङ्कर उवाच । प्रसन्नोहं तव स्तुत्या सनारीकस्य चित्तज । स्वयंभव वरम्बूहि वाञ्छितं तद्ददामि ते
śaṅkara uvāca | prasannohaṃ tava stutyā sanārīkasya cittaja | svayaṃbhava varambūhi vāñchitaṃ taddadāmi te
Śaṅkara dit : « Je suis satisfait de ton hymne de louange, ô Kāma, fils né de l’esprit de Sanārīka. Ô être né de lui-même, dis le don que tu désires ; ce que tu souhaites, je te l’accorderai. »

The verse highlights Śiva’s anugraha (grace): sincere stuti (devotional praise) purifies the devotee and draws the Lord’s compassionate response, culminating in the granting of a boon aligned with dharma and spiritual upliftment.
Śaṅkara’s direct response to praise reflects Saguna worship—approaching Śiva as the personal Lord who hears devotion. In Linga-worship, stotra and namaskāra are central acts through which the devotee invokes Śiva’s presence and grace.
