Alors la Divinité fut honorée selon le rite par les dieux—avec leurs épouses—dans une joie profonde ; et toute l’étendue du ciel fut envahie par un grand cri de « Victoire ! ».
Sūta Gosvāmin (narrating to the sages at Naimiṣāraṇya)
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Mahādeva
Mantra: जय
Offering: dipa
It portrays collective devotional acclaim: when the Supreme Lord is pleased and revealed in an accessible (saguṇa) manner, the devas respond with reverent worship and victorious praise, indicating the triumph of dharma and divine grace filling all directions.
The act of nīrājana (ārati) is a hallmark of saguṇa-upāsanā—worshiping Shiva as manifest and approachable through ritual honor, which complements inner contemplation and supports the devotee’s steadiness in bhakti.
Perform ārati (nīrājana) with focused devotion and conclude with “jaya” chants or the Pañcākṣarī mantra (Om Namaḥ Śivāya), mentally offering the light to Shiva and envisioning the heart-space becoming ‘pervaded’ by divine presence.
