Même le Seigneur des yogin n’est pas souillé. Bien qu’il prenne une part au maintien du monde, il demeure intact—comme le Soi (Ātman), jamais taché par les actes des êtres incarnés sur la voie du karma‑yoga.
Sūta Gosvāmin (narrating Śaiva doctrine to the sages at Naimiṣāraṇya)
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Dakṣiṇāmūrti
Role: teaching
It teaches that Śiva, the supreme Pati, can engage in sustaining the cosmos without being bound—showing devotees how to act in the world while remaining inwardly unattached, aiming at liberation.
Linga-worship honors Śiva as both immanent and transcendent: he supports the universe (saguṇa function) yet is ever pure and unstained (nirguṇa reality). The verse frames devotion as recognizing this untouched divinity.
Practice karma-yoga with Śiva-bhāva: offer daily duties to Śiva, repeat the Pañcākṣarī (Om Namaḥ Śivāya) with mental detachment, and maintain purity through simple Śaiva observances such as bhasma (tripuṇḍra) and japa.
