Narration of Kārttikeya’s Divine Play
अतस्त्वमाज्ञया मे हि संस्कारं कर्तुमर्हसि । इदं सर्वं सुगोप्यं ते कथनीयं न कुत्रचित्
atastvamājñayā me hi saṃskāraṃ kartumarhasi | idaṃ sarvaṃ sugopyaṃ te kathanīyaṃ na kutracit
Ainsi, par mon ordre, tu es véritablement digne d’accomplir le saṃskāra prescrit. Mais tout cela doit être gardé par toi avec le plus grand secret et ne doit être dit nulle part.
Lord Shiva (instructor figure within the Kumārakhaṇḍa narrative, issuing an injunction regarding a rite and secrecy)
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Dakṣiṇāmūrti
Role: teaching
The verse emphasizes disciplined transmission of Shaiva practice: sacred saṃskāras are to be performed under rightful authority and protected from casual disclosure, preserving their purity and transformative intent toward Shiva-realization.
Linga-worship and Saguna Shiva upāsanā often include regulated rites (saṃskāras, vows, mantra-nyāsa, consecrations). This instruction reflects that such practices are to be undertaken as ordained, with reverence and restraint, rather than treated as public talk.
It points to performing an authorized saṃskāra—typically an initiation-like consecration or vow-based observance—carried out with mantra discipline and confidentiality, aligning the practitioner to Shiva through regulated practice.
