It presents seva (reverent service) to one’s parents as a direct expression of bhakti, a sattvic discipline that purifies the heart and becomes fit for Shiva’s grace (anugraha).
In Shaiva practice, honoring and serving worthy elders is treated as honoring Shiva present in all beings; such lived devotion supports Saguna Shiva worship by cultivating humility, obedience, and steadiness needed for pūjā and vrata.
The implied practice is daily paricaryā with bhakti—serving with a worshipful attitude—supported by simple Shaiva disciplines like japa of “Om Namaḥ Śivāya” and maintaining purity of conduct.
