सीताया वनगमननिश्चयः
Sita’s Resolve to Accompany Rama to the Forest
प्रसादितश्च वै पूर्वं त्वं मे बहुतिथं प्रभो।गमनं वनवासस्य काङ्क्षितं हि सह त्वया।।।।
prasāditaś ca vai pūrvaṃ tvaṃ me bahutithaṃ prabho | gamanaṃ vanavāsasya kāṅkṣitaṃ hi saha tvayā || 2.29.14 ||
Ô seigneur, jadis déjà tu m’accordas longuement ta faveur, lorsque je te suppliais ; car j’avais réellement désiré partir avec toi pour l’exil en forêt.
Pleased with my long entreaties in the past to dwell with you in the forest, O lord, you had granted my desire.
Dharma is reinforced through consistency and keeping one’s granted assent: Sītā recalls Rāma’s earlier favor as a moral basis for her present request.
Sītā argues that accompanying Rāma is not new; it aligns with her long-standing wish previously acknowledged by him.
Constancy (sthāyitva)—Sītā’s enduring commitment to shared life and shared duty.
