The Dialogue between Rukmāṅgada and Dharmāṅgada
स्मर्त्तव्यो मनुजैः सर्वैर्धर्मकामार्थकामुकैः । स्वजातिविहितोऽप्येवं सन्मार्गे चैव माधवः ॥ ४० ॥
smarttavyo manujaiḥ sarvairdharmakāmārthakāmukaiḥ | svajātivihito'pyevaṃ sanmārge caiva mādhavaḥ || 40 ||
Mādhava (Viṣṇu) doit être rappelé par tous les hommes—par ceux voués au dharma, par ceux qui recherchent le plaisir et par ceux qui recherchent la prospérité. Même en suivant les devoirs prescrits à sa propre jāti, qu’on demeure sur la bonne voie par le souvenir de Mādhava.

It teaches that remembrance of Vishnu (Mādhava) is universal and should accompany every human pursuit—dharma, artha, or kāma—so that life remains aligned with sanmārga (the right path).
Bhakti here is expressed as smaraṇa (constant remembrance): even while performing prescribed social and religious duties, one anchors the mind in Mādhava, making devotion the inner thread of all actions.
The verse implies dharma-śāstra-based application (kalpa/smṛti tradition): performing one’s vihita duties (rule-governed conduct) while maintaining devotional remembrance as the guiding principle.
