FAQs

The verse highlights śravaṇa (devotional listening) as a purifier: hearing a puṇya-carita (holy narrative) is affirmed as spiritually meritorious, and gratitude toward the compassionate teacher is presented as part of dharmic conduct.

It frames bhakti through attentive hearing and reverent appreciation—Narada praises the sage for reciting the sacred story, showing that devotion grows through listening to divine līlā/kathā and honoring the transmitter of that tradition.

While not teaching a specific Vedāṅga rule, it reflects the Vedic discipline of correct oral transmission—recitation for hearing (śrāvaṇa) aligns with śikṣā (phonetics) and the broader tradition of preserving sacred knowledge through spoken instruction.
