Qu’on commence selon la règle le rite de l’offrande des lampes (dīpārambha) aux mois de Vaiśākha, Śrāvaṇa, Mārgaśīrṣa, Kārtika, Āśvina, Pauṣa, Māgha et Phālguna.
Sanatkumara (in instruction to Narada, within the Vedāṅga/vrata-vidhi discourse)
Vrata: Dīpārambha / Dīpa-dāna (lamp observance)
Primary Rasa: shanta
Secondary Rasa: bhakti
It sanctifies dīpa-dāna by tying it to specific months of the sacred calendar, teaching that devotional light-offerings are most effective when begun at ritually appropriate times (kāla-niyama), supporting merit (puṇya) and purity (śuddhi).
By prescribing the disciplined commencement of lamp worship, the verse frames bhakti as steady, time-bound practice—regularly offering light as an act of reverence that sustains remembrance and worship through the year.
It highlights calendrical and ritual timing knowledge—using lunar months (māsa) as the framework for observances—reflecting Vedāṅga-style attention to proper ritual time (kāla) and procedure (vidhi).
