Sanatkumara (in dialogue with Narada)
Vrata: none
Primary Rasa: shanta
Secondary Rasa: bhakti
It gives the mantra-lakṣaṇa (ṛṣi–chandas–devatā) for a six-syllabled “mantra-king,” showing that effective japa and upāsanā are grounded in correct Vedic identification of the mantra’s seer, metre, and presiding deity.
By naming the devatā (Soma) and the authoritative transmission line (Bhṛgu as ṛṣi), it frames devotion as disciplined upāsanā—bhakti expressed through properly oriented mantra-recitation rather than mere sentiment.
Chandas (Vedic prosody) and mantra-śāstra practice: the verse specifies Paṅkti as the metre and identifies the mantra’s ṛṣi and devatā—key details traditionally used for viniyoga and correct ritual/japa procedure.
