The Characteristics of Devotion to Hari
Sanatkumara (teaching Narada)
Vrata: none
Primary Rasa: bhakti
Secondary Rasa: shanta
It declares that the body becomes spiritually meaningful when used in service—feet that carry one to Viṣṇu’s abode and hands that perform Viṣṇu-pūjā are called “successful,” pointing to embodied devotion as a purifier and merit-giver.
Bhakti is presented as practical, action-oriented devotion: approaching Viṣṇu (temple-going, darśana) and serving Him (pūjā). The verse privileges sincere devotional engagement over mere physical existence.
While not a Vedāṅga lesson directly, it reflects ritual discipline (kalpa-oriented practice): temple visitation and pūjā as regulated acts of worship, emphasizing correct devotional action as a daily sādhanā.
