The Characteristics of Devotion to Hari
Sanatkumara (teaching Narada)
Vrata: none
Primary Rasa: bhakti
Secondary Rasa: shanta
It asserts that the decisive spiritual qualification is śraddhā (faithful trust and reverence), because Hari responds to inner devotion rather than external power such as money or social backing.
Bhakti is presented as heart-centered: sincere faith is what pleases Vishnu. The verse de-emphasizes material resources and family prestige, pointing to devotion as accessible to all who cultivate śraddhā.
No specific Vedanga (like Vyākaraṇa, Jyotiṣa, or Śikṣā) is taught in this verse; the practical takeaway is ethical-spiritual discipline—prioritizing śraddhā as the core qualification for worship and vrata observance.
