Narada Purana — Purva Bhaga, Shloka 80

Śuka’s Yoga-ascent, the Echo of ‘Bhoḥ’, and the Vaikuṇṭha Vision

FAQs

It seals the Moksha-Dharma instruction by stating that the very act of studying (pāṭha) and hearing (śravaṇa) these teachings is itself a sādhanā that nurtures devotion to Hari, which is central to liberation.

It presents bhakti as both the fruit and the means: the liberation-teachings, when recited or heard, directly “increase Hari-bhakti,” showing that attentive listening and recitation are practical bhakti-acts.

The verse emphasizes śravaṇa (listening) and pāṭha (recitation), practices tied to correct oral transmission; while not naming a Vedanga explicitly, it aligns with the discipline of sound/recitation central to Śikṣā (phonetics) in Vedic learning.
