Narada Purana — Purva Bhaga, Shloka 67

Graha–Ketu–Utpāta Lakṣaṇas: Solar/Lunar Omens, Comets, Eclipses, and Calendar Rules

FAQs

It frames cosmic order (graha-gati) as part of dharma: when benefic forces operate in auspicious courses, society receives nourishment and stability—supporting righteous living and spiritual practice.

Indirectly: abundance of rain and crops removes distress and enables steadiness in worship, vows, charity, and remembrance—conditions traditionally seen as supportive for sustained bhakti.

Jyotiṣa (a Vedāṅga): reading planetary motion—specifically Śukra’s benefic course and ‘three vīthis’—as an indicator of rainfall and agricultural prosperity.
