Jyotiṣa-saṅgraha: Varga-vibhāga, Bala-nirṇaya, Garbha-phala, Āyuḥ-gaṇanā
Sanatkumara (teaching Narada)
Vrata: none
Primary Rasa: shanta
Secondary Rasa: adbhuta
It teaches discernment (viveka) in reading signs: results are not determined by a single factor, because graha, nakṣatra, and the nature of the object can differ—so a wise person judges auspiciousness by weighing multiple indications.
Indirectly, it supports bhakti-based dharma by guiding devotees to choose proper timings and conditions for vows and worship, emphasizing careful judgment rather than superstition—so devotional acts are performed with clarity and right understanding.
Vedāṅga Jyotiṣa: it highlights how graha-phala (planetary influence) and nakṣatra-phala (lunar mansion influence) can conflict, and how omens must be assessed comparatively (planet vs star vs object’s inherent nature).
