gajeṃdramokṣaṇākhyānaṃ manvaṃtaranirūpaṇe | samudramathanaṃ caiva balivaibhavabaṃdhanam || 14 ||
Dans l’exposé des Manvantaras sont inclus le récit de la délivrance de Gajendra, le barattage de l’océan, et aussi l’épisode de Bali — sa grandeur et le fait d’avoir été lié (contenu).
Suta (narrating the Narada Purana’s contents in an anukramanika summary)
Vrata: none
Primary Rasa: adbhuta
Secondary Rasa: bhakti
It functions as a contents-marker: within the Manvantara exposition, it highlights three archetypal lessons—deliverance through surrender (Gajendra), cosmic cooperation and dharmic order (ocean churning), and the disciplining of power through divine grace (Bali’s binding by Vāmana/Vishnu).
By pointing to Gajendra’s liberation and Bali’s encounter with Vishnu, it signals that bhakti—humble refuge in the Lord—overcomes crisis and transforms even kingship and pride into sanctified surrender.
Indirectly, it points to Purāṇic time-reckoning (Manvantara framework), which supports traditional Jyotiṣa-style calendrical and cosmic-period understanding used to contextualize rituals and sacred history.
