Brahma
Vrata: none
Primary Rasa: bhakti
Secondary Rasa: adbhuta
It establishes scriptural authority through a sacred lineage: Brahmā narrates to Marīci an auspicious Purāṇa that originates from Bhagavān Viṣṇu’s direct instruction to Garuḍa, highlighting the merit of śravaṇa (devotional listening).
By foregrounding “listen” and presenting Viṣṇu (Garuḍāsana) as the source, it frames Purāṇa-hearing as a bhakti practice—receiving divine teaching through respectful inquiry and attentive listening.
The verse signals an anukramaṇikā-style method—systematic transmission and cataloging of Purāṇic content—useful for śāstra study traditions (textual organization and recitation practice), though it does not teach a specific Vedāṅga technique directly.
