It functions as an anukramanika (topic-index), showing that sacred history (dynasties), divine lineages (Agni), and disciplined ritual action (kriyā-yoga) culminate in a coherent Purāṇic teaching meant for remembrance and transmission.
By emphasizing kīrtana/parikīrtana (devotional recitation and remembrance) as the method of preserving and reliving dharmic narratives, it supports bhakti through hearing and chanting the Purāṇic account.
The mention of kriyā-yoga points to applied ritual discipline aligned with Kalpa (the Vedāṅga of ritual procedure), where correct performance and sequencing of rites are central.
