Shloka 3

तानब्रुवन्‌ महात्मान: स्थिता: प्राजजलयस्तदा । अभ्यनुज्ञापयिष्यन्तस्तं निवासं धृतव्रता:

vaiśampāyana uvāca | tān abruvan mahātmānaḥ sthitāḥ prāñjalayas tadā | abhyanujñāpayiṣyantas taṃ nivāsaṃ dhṛtavratāḥ ||

Vaiśampāyana dit : Alors ces hommes magnanimes, inébranlables dans leurs vœux, se tinrent debout, les mains jointes, et parlèrent—demandant l’autorisation quant au mode de séjour qu’ils avaient résolu d’adopter, à savoir la demeure dissimulée qu’ils allaient entreprendre. La scène met en lumière une détermination disciplinée et le respect dû au consentement légitime avant d’entrer dans une étape de vie cachée, délicate au regard du dharma.
