Udyoga Parva Adhyāya 103: Garuḍa’s Protest, Viṣṇu’s Demonstration, and Counsel Toward Śama
नारदस्त्वार्यकश्चैव कृतकार्यो मुदा युतौ । अभिमजम्मतुरभ्यर्च्य देवराजं महाद्युतिम्ू,नारद और आर्यक दोनों ही कृतकृत्य हो महातेजस्वी देवराजकी अर्चना करके प्रसन्नतापूर्वक अपने-अपने स्थानको चले गये
nāradas tv āryakaś caiva kṛtakāryau mudā yutau | abhimajjamatur abhyarcya devarājaṃ mahādyutim ||
Vaiśampāyana dit : Nārada et Āryaka, leur dessein accompli et le cœur empli de joie, rendirent un culte respectueux au roi des dieux, éclatant de splendeur. L’ayant ainsi honoré, ils s’en allèrent, satisfaits, chacun regagnant sa demeure—marquant l’achèvement de leur mission et la convenance de clore toute action par la gratitude et la dévotion.
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse highlights a dharmic closure to action: after fulfilling one’s duty, one should acknowledge higher order and benefactors with reverence and gratitude, then depart without attachment—content in having completed the task properly.
After accomplishing their intended mission, Nārada and Āryaka worship Indra, the radiant king of the gods, and then leave happily, each returning to his respective place—marking the end of an episode and a transition in the story.
