Atithi-prāpti and the Brāhmaṇa’s Deliberation on Triadic Dharma (अतिथिप्राप्तिः धर्मत्रयविचारश्च)
त्रैकालिकमिद ज्ञान प्रादुर्भूत॑ यथेप्सितम् । तच्छुणुध्वं यथान्यायं वक्ष्ये संशयमुत्तमम्
traikālikam idaṁ jñānaṁ prādurbhūtaṁ yathepsitam | tac chṛṇudhvaṁ yathānyāyaṁ vakṣye saṁśayam uttamam ||
Vaiśampāyana dit : « Cette connaissance des trois temps — passé, présent et avenir — s’est manifestée en moi exactement selon mon désir. Écoutez donc avec attention, selon ce qui est juste ; j’énoncerai la décision suprême qui dissipe le doute. »
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The speaker frames his forthcoming instruction as doubt-dispelling guidance grounded in nyāya (propriety/justice), claiming authoritative insight (knowledge spanning the three times) and urging disciplined listening—an ethical posture for receiving dharmic teaching.
Vaiśampāyana announces that a special, comprehensive knowledge has manifested to him and invites the listeners to hear carefully; he is about to deliver an excellent clarification intended to resolve a significant doubt.
