इन्द्रेण वृत्रवधः, ब्रह्महत्याया अनुगमनम्, तथा च विभाजन-निवासविधानम्
Indra’s defeat of Vṛtra; pursuit by Brahmahatyā; allocation of her abodes
अमूढत्वमसंगित्वं कामक्रोधविवर्जनम् । अदैन्यमनुदीर्णत्वमनुद्वेगो व्यवस्थिति:
amūḍhatvam asaṅgitvaṁ kāma-krodha-vivarjanam | adainyam anudīrṇatvam anudvego vyavasthitiḥ ||
Bhīṣma dit : « La lucidité affranchie de l’illusion, le non-attachement et l’abandon du désir et de la colère ; l’absence d’abattement, l’absence d’arrogance ou d’agitation excessive, et une stabilité inébranlable — ces qualités, réunies, forment la voie pure, sans tache et sacrée qui mène à la délivrance. »
भीष्म उवाच
Liberation is approached through inner discipline: clear understanding (freedom from delusion), non-attachment, renouncing desire and anger, avoiding dejection and arrogance, remaining unagitated, and maintaining steady composure.
In Śānti Parva, Bhīṣma instructs Yudhiṣṭhira on dharma after the war; here he enumerates mental and ethical qualities that constitute a pure path toward mokṣa.
