Āśā-prabhava (आशाप्रभव) — On the Rise and Power of Hope/Expectation
Sumitra Itihāsa Begins
ते विश्रब्धा: प्रभाषन्ते संयच्छन्ति च मां सदा । ते मां काव्यपथे युक्त शुश्रुषुमनसूयकम्
te viśrabdhāḥ prabhāṣante saṃyacchanti ca māṃ sadā | te māṃ kāvyapathe yuktaṃ śuśrūṣum anasūyakam ||
Prahlāda dit : « Ces brahmanes, me faisant confiance, me parlent librement ; et sans cesse ils me maintiennent dans la retenue et la maîtrise de soi. Ils me voient attaché à la voie du conseil avisé, empressé de servir et sans penchant à relever les fautes. Ainsi ne cessent-ils de m’instruire, me “aspergeant”, pour ainsi dire, des paroles des śāstras, pareilles au nectar, comme les abeilles humectent un rayon de miel des sucs des fleurs. »
