Yudhiṣṭhira’s Reproach to Dhanaṃjaya
समावृतैर्नरवरैर्निष्नद्धिरितरेतरम् । उस समय वहाँ अस्त्रोंसे आवृत हो परस्पर आघात करनेवाले नरश्रेष्ठ वीरोंके चलाये हुए बाणोंकी वृष्टिसे आकाशमें मेघोंकी छाया-सी छा रही थी
saṃvṛtair naravarair niṣṇaddhair itaretaram |
Sañjaya dit : Le ciel semblait recouvert comme d’une épaisse ombre de nuages, tant il était voilé par la pluie incessante de flèches lancées par les plus éminents des hommes — des héros cuirassés s’entre-heurtant au corps à corps. La scène révèle comment la guerre, nourrie d’une agression réciproque, peut obscurcir jusqu’à la clarté elle-même, faisant des cieux un témoin assombri de la fureur humaine.
