Droṇa’s Defensive Stand and Abhimanyu Commissioned to Breach the Cakravyūha
As a chapter-ending colophon, the passage does not teach through direct instruction but frames the episode ethically: Abhimanyu’s death is presented as a pivotal wartime tragedy that invites reflection on dharma in battle—how strategy, collective violence, and the treatment of a lone warrior test the boundaries of righteous conduct.
Sañjaya signals the completion of the thirty-third chapter within the Droṇa Parva’s Abhimanyu-vadha section, stating that the chapter has given a concise narration of Abhimanyu’s slaying and is now concluded.
