भीष्मपातने कर्णविलापः | Karṇa’s Lament upon Seeing Bhīṣma Fallen
मोहन सर्वसैन्यस्य युधि भीष्मस्य पातनम् । ककुदं सर्वसैन्यानां लक्ष्म सर्वधनुष्मताम्
mohana sarvasainyasya yudhi bhīṣmasya pātanam | kakudaṃ sarvasainyānāṃ lakṣma sarvadhanuṣmatām
Sañjaya dit : Dans la bataille, la chute de Bhīṣma—qui avait été l’enchantement et la force de ralliement de toute l’armée—fut comme l’effondrement de la crête de l’ost et la perte de la gloire distinctive de tous les archers. Sa défaite n’annonce pas seulement un revers tactique, mais une rupture morale et psychologique dans l’ordre même de la guerre.
