The verse condemns hypocrisy and moral accusation without self-scrutiny: one who is himself a storehouse of wrongdoing should not posture as a judge of another. It also stresses restraint and responsibility in speech—do not repeat slanderous or unethical talk.
In the heated context of the Kurukṣetra war, Dhṛṣṭadyumna delivers a sharp rebuke to an opponent/critic, rejecting blame and turning the charge back: he brands the other as a disgrace to the Vṛṣṇi lineage and warns him not to speak such accusations again.
