अब्रवीच्च तदा भीम: पार्षतं शत्रुतापनम्,उस समय भीमसेनने शत्रुओंको संताप देनेवाले धृष्टद्युम्नसे कहा--'ट्रुपदनन्दन! जब सूतपुत्र कर्ण और पापी दुर्योधन मारे जायँगे, उस समय विजयी हुए तुमको मैं फिर इसी प्रकार छातीसे लगाऊँगा'
abravīc ca tadā bhīmaḥ pārṣataṁ śatrutāpanam |
Sañjaya dit : Alors Bhīma s’adressa à Dhṛṣṭadyumna, fils de Pārṣata (Drupada) et fléau des ennemis : «Ô fils de Drupada ! Quand Karṇa, le fils de l’aurige, et le pécheur Duryodhana auront été abattus, alors je t’étreindrai de nouveau contre ma poitrine, de la même manière, en vainqueur.» Cette parole présente le vœu farouche de Bhīma comme un objectif de guerre chargé de dharma : la victoire n’est pas une simple conquête, mais l’élimination de ceux qu’il tient pour des agresseurs injustes, après quoi l’honneur fraternel sera proclamé au grand jour.
