तथा संयुध्यमानानां विगाढासीन्महानिशा । पाण्डवानां च राजेन्द्र कौरवाणां च सर्वश:,राजेन्द्र! इस प्रकार युद्धमें लगे हुए पाण्डवों और कौरवोंकी वह महारात्रि सर्वथा प्रगाढ़ हो चली
tathā saṃyudhyamānānāṃ vigāḍhāsīn mahāniśā | pāṇḍavānāṃ ca rājendra kauravāṇāṃ ca sarvaśaḥ ||
Sañjaya dit : Tandis qu’ils continuaient de se battre, ô roi, la grande nuit devint d’une densité totale, enveloppant de toutes parts les Pāṇḍava comme les Kaurava.
संजय उवाच
The verse highlights how conflict can continue even as conditions worsen—here symbolized by a night growing dense—hinting that in war, moral and practical clarity may be increasingly obscured, yet the momentum of violence persists.
Sañjaya reports to the king that while the Pāṇḍavas and Kauravas are engaged in battle, a great night sets in and becomes thoroughly dark all around them.
