Night Battle Begins; Duryodhana’s Protective Orders for Droṇa
Droṇa-parva 139

This verse is a colophon rather than a doctrinal statement; its ethical import lies in how the epic frames warfare as a narrated, accountable sequence of actions within dharma, emphasizing that battles and their outcomes are recorded, structured, and morally situated within the larger story.
Sañjaya formally closes the chapter, stating that the 136th chapter—focused on Bhīma’s battle—has ended, and locating it within Droṇa Parva and the Jayadratha-slaying section.
