Dhṛtarāṣṭra’s appraisal of Vāsudeva’s deeds
रोषानिलसमुद्धूतो मनोभिप्रायशीघ्रग: । मर्मातिगो बाणधरस्तुमुल: शोणितोदकै:
roṣānilasamuddhūto manobhiprāyaśīghragaḥ | marmātigo bāṇadharas tumulaḥ śoṇitodakaḥ ||
Vaiśampāyana dit : Poussée en avant comme par une bourrasque de colère, rapide comme l’intention même de l’esprit, la force porteuse de flèches se rua—perçant les points vitaux, tumultueuse, et laissant derrière elle un sillage de sang. Le vers fait sentir l’horreur morale du combat : la colère devient un vent qui accélère la violence, et l’habileté se change en précision meurtrière contre les lieux les plus vulnérables du corps.
