Dhṛtarāṣṭra’s appraisal of Vāsudeva’s deeds
विसृजज्छरजालानि वर्षाणि मघवानिव । अवस्फूर्जन् दिश: सर्वास्तलनेमिस्वनेन च
visṛjaj charajālāni varṣāṇi maghavān iva | avasphūrjan diśaḥ sarvāḥ talanemisvanena ca ||
Vaiśampāyana dit : Il lâcha des averses de flèches entrelacées, comme Maghavān (Indra) répand la pluie ; et, par le fracas tonnant des roues de son char, il fit retentir toutes les directions. Le vers accentue l’image du champ de bataille comme une tempête de puissance : lorsque la prouesse guerrière se déchaîne sans retenue, elle peut dominer le monde alentour et alourdir la pression morale de la guerre sur tous les témoins.
